AGRIGET

As it was conceived within a 2 week design charette, Agriget is a project which proposes that unoccupied private space could be used as a site for an urban farming initiative which could tackle the need for increased nutrition within selected New York localities. These aggregate micro farming units would co-exist with a community organizing app which would not only allow individuals to organize important planting and harvesting dates but also trade and barter harvested plants and monitor local climate conditions by making use of smart planter technology. Ultimately the goal of this project would be a shift in policy that would change how cities approach unoccupied land and transitional spaces, using them as a means of public engagement rather than allowing them to languish as owned, yet unused parcels of property.
